Mission Statement
“Taking Mental Health Awareness to Heart”

The best way to support the Mental Health Community is to “facilitate, educate and engage”.  Teaching Mental Health First Aid is a great way to share the message that “Everyone Matters”. We are passionate about Mental Health Education and removing stigma.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved.
The MHFA Canada program aims to improve mental health literacy, and provide the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague.
The program does not teach people how to be therapists. It does teach people how to:
  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health problems.
  • Provide initial help.
  • Guide a person towards appropriate professional help.
MHFA shares the same overall purpose as traditional first aid. It aims to:
  • Preserve life where a person may be a danger to themselves or others.
  • Provide help to prevent the mental health problem from developing into a more serious state.
  • Promote the recovery of good mental health.
  • Provide comfort to a person experiencing a mental health problem.

Innovative Musical Theatre

Picture
The core philosophy at Innovative Musical Theatre is that “EVERYONE’S A STAR.” IMT in Oakville and Mississauga specially designs quality productions with smaller casts. Giving every student a lead role provides the performer the opportunity to reach their maximum potential. With six hours a week of singing, dancing, and acting training, performers get individual attention when training to perform their leading role.

At every rehearsal located at The Meeting House, a faculty of industry professionals are working and guiding performers to ensure that they grow and truly shine during their big performance. Students of the Innovative Musical Theatre Program (IMT), are always learning and engaged instead of watching others have all the fun. At every rehearsal, all lead cast members rotate stations and work specifically on each art form. Through a supportive staff, individual attention, and a revolutionary rehearsal process, selected hopefuls are given a valuable, exciting, and fun opportunity to grow as a performer and as an individual.
